All CUSD #20 schools will not be in session Tuesday, November 8th due to Election Day and Friday, November 11th due to Veterans Day. Schools will be in session and run normal schedules Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the district. Have a great evening, Unit 20!

Tonight is senior night at Ed Loeb Field. Come out and support our senior football players and band members for their final game at LHS. Senior recognition starts at 6:30 with the game vs Marshall starting at 7:00.

Today is Principal Appreciation Day in Illinois. CUSD #20 is blessed to have Mr. Boldt, Mr. Reider, and Mrs. Hayes as the building principals along with Mr. Malone, Mrs. Fisher, Mr. Wood, and Mrs. Zehner as assistant principals. CUSD #20 is also blessed with our district athletic director, Mrs. Schultz. Thank you for your dedicated service to the students, staff and community at CUSD #20!

All CUSD #20 students will be dismissed an hour early on Thursday, October 20th and there is no school on Friday, October 21st, for Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Today was a great day of collaboration for Unit #10 and Unit #20 for a full day IGNITE #loveinschools professional development workshop with certified and classified staff! We’d like to thank our guest presenter, Mr. Joel Katte from Lexington, Kentucky, for encouraging our staff to pour their hearts, souls, and commitments into themselves, each other, and their students.

Friday, October 7 is a teacher inservice day for all of Unit #20. There will be no school for students. There is no school on Monday, October 10 due to Columbus Day.

Unit 20 students and staff have been busy today learning and working in various ways throughout the district. It's amazing to see how hard our teachers and staff are working to serve our students and create a world of educating our future in ways that makes learning fun. Each building throughout the district have been shining bright and our students are working hard. Great job by all, Unit 20 family!! Also a big congratulations to the LHS September Students of the Month: Stephen Killion — Freshman, Dakota Sanders — Sophomore, Maya Mullins — Junior, Brayden Hunt — Senior. A big well done to all!!

Unit #20 is looking for a dependable, high energy, and hard working administrative assistant for the Unit #20 Office. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Board of Education, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and to assist with efficiently operating the district office. We are seeking a candidate with the ability to support the district by ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the district office; establish and maintain records/grants; learn and understand computer information systems such as TeacherEase and IWAS; and respond promptly and kindly to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 4 years experience in an office management or related position. Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) as well as the Google Apps suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.). Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and the community. Ability to enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner. Salary/Benefits: 12-month contract based on the qualifications of the candidate. Salary/Benefits will be discussed and will include pension through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), offered medical insurance through Illinois Blue Cross Blue Shield, and sick/personal leave. Today's Parkview softball game has been canceled due to field conditions. 8th grade recognition will be tomorrow prior to regional game. The Parkview baseball game is still on for today.

All CUSD #20 schools will dismiss two hours early tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd, and there is no school on Monday, September 5th.

Reminder that tonight 8/25 is Meet the Teacher night for the High School from 6:30-8pm

LHS administration was made aware of a situation that resulted in a building evacuation. After law enforcement and district administration investigated, the situation was deemed all clear. Schedules will continue as normal.

Today’s Parkview baseball and softball home games will start at 4:00, not 4:30.

Parkview Open House is Monday, August 15th from 5:00 to 6:00, Parkside Open House is Monday, August 15th from 5:30 to 6:30, and the Back to School Carnival is from 6:00 to 8:30 at Ed Loeb Field.

FRESHMAN and NEW student orientation is at LHS tonight at 5:00 in the auditorium. Also, at 6:00 tonight is the all sport parent/player meeting in the auditorium.

CUSD #20 Community, As everyone knows school is about to begin for the students and staff of Unit #20. We are excited to have everyone back at school and look forward to an exciting year. With students returning to school, the amount of individuals walking and biking around town is going to increase. Please slow down and pay extra attention to your surroundings. Also, remember that it is against the law to use a cell phone in a school zone and our police department does a great job in monitoring this throughout the year. School buses will continue to run as normal as possible. Due to a shortage of drivers, there may be times that we have to adjust routes and run a second route to cover certain areas of the district. Students and parents will be notified of these changes as soon as possible and we ask for your patience and understanding in these situations. I also want to remind everyone that students who live within 1.5 miles of school are not allowed to ride the bus, unless they reside in what the state has determined to be a safety hazard area. Students in PreK through 8th grade are allowed to ride the bus if they live east of Route 1 or north of Highway 250. However, LHS students are not allowed to ride the bus if they live within 1.5 miles. I understand this causes hardships for some families as younger students can ride the bus but older siblings can’t, but that is a state law, not a local regulation. This year, the state will not be providing reimbursement for school lunches for students. Therefore, we will be charging for breakfast and lunch again this year. I strongly encourage everyone to complete the application for free and reduced lunches. Families who qualify will be notified and student’s free/reduced status will be kept confidential. School safety will continue to be stressed this year within Unit #20. We have added additional safety measures at each school as well as additional training for our staff to enhance the safety of all students and staff. Finally, I encourage everyone to be involved in our school community as much as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school for assistance.
